Įsgaršar is divided in to two groups, Eggertsgata 12-14 for families and 16-34 for individuals and couples without children.
Eggertsgata 12-14 is the only building in the Įsgaršar complex that is intended for families with children. It opened in 1993. In the building there are 10 spacious two bedroom apartments, type 4-1 is 76m2, type 4-2 is 84m2 and the largest one is type 4-3, 90,5m2 with a small loft on top of bathroom and master bedroom. Lights, fridge and stove are included in all apartments. All apartments have computer connections (to the university Ethernet). In the basement there are large storages as well as storage for bicycles and baby carriages and a complete laundry room. At Eggertsgata 14, there is a day-care center, Leikgardur, run by FS for children from 6 months until two years old.
The Įsgaršar complex is mostly intended for individuals and couples without children. The first building was opened in 1993 and the last in 2003. There are five kinds of apartments in the buildings; 124 studio apartments for one person (type 5-7, 35m2), 66 studio apartments for one person (type 5-2, 36m2), 77 one bedroom apartments for couples (type 5-1, 58-63m2), 41 two bedroom shared apartments for individuals (types 5-5 and 5-3, 58-63m2), rented out separately to two students who share the kitchen and bath. Lights, fridge and stove are included in all apartments. All apartments have computer connections (to the university Ethernet).In each building there are storages as well as a communal laundry room. The two bedroom shared apartments in Eggertsgata 18 and 22 come furnished (type 5-5). In Eggertsgata 32 there is one couples apartment designed for a handicapped individual or couple. In Eggertsgata 24 there are 4 studio apartments designed for a handicapped individuals. In Eggertsgata 34, FS runs the day-care center Mįnagaršur for children from the age of 1 to 6 years old. In Eggertsgata 14, FS runs the day-care center Leikgaršur for children from the age of six months to 2 years old.
Rental period is 12months that is from the 1st of September to 31st of August the following year. Lease can be terminated, tenant has to give a 3 months notice, counting from the start of next month. |

Gamli Garšur |

Gamli Garšur was first opened as a dormitory in 1934. In the fall of 1995 the building was completely renovated and now it has 43 single rooms (12m2). In 2005 2006 two of the common kitchens have been renewed and the last one is on schedule for next winter. Each room comes with a bed, a desk, an office chair, a closet, shelves, a sink, a telephone and computer connections (to the university Ethernet). There are 3 floors in the building as well as an attic. There are 13 rooms on the ground floor, 14 on the second floor and 16 on the third. There are communal bathrooms on each floor, as well as kitchens equipped with cooking tools. The laundry room and bicycle storage are on ground floor. In the attic, there is a sitting room with a TV. On second floor there is also a meeting hall, Garšsbśš, that can be used for meetings or communal dinners.
Leasing period is only for the wintertime, from the 28th of August to the 26th of May every winter. Lease can not be terminated by the tenant as it is a temporary lease. A lease for a definite period shall expire on the agreed date without any special notice or announcement by the parties and can not be terminated by the tenant. For termination of the lease during the lease period, see provision 14.1, 14.2, 14.3 of the contract.

Skerjagaršur |

Skerjagardur is in Sudurgata 121 and is a four storied building with elevator. It opened in 1998-99 and has 77 one person apartments/studios (types 1-6 and 1-7, 29m2). Two of them are designed for handicapped students. Each apartment includes bathroom, storage and a spacious room with cooking facilities. They are all furnished with lights, a desk and bookshelves in the storage room, microwave oven and fridge in the kitchen. All apartments have computer connections (to the university Ethernet). Communal laundry room and bicycle storage are on the first floor. Type 1-7 also comes with furnitures, which is a bed, a kitchen table and two chairs.

Skógargaršar |

Skógargaršar (Skógarvegur 18-22) is new family housing that will be opened in December 2009 and January 2010. The buildings are three with a total of 47 two bedroom apartments (types 7-2 and 7-3, 70-80,7m2) and 33 one bedroom apartments (type 7-1, 59,9- 62,2 m2). Storage space for each apartment is located in the basement. All the buildings also have access to storage for bicycles and baby carriages. Lights, fridge and a stove are included in all apartments, connections for dishwasher is in the kitchen and for washer and drier in the bathroom. The building does not have a common laundry room. The apartments are for families with children only. All apartments have Internet connections (through the university Ethernet). There is a garage for residents underneath the houses and garden.
Rental period will be 12 months, but new all contracts, made now, will be until middle of August 2010. Next rental period will start in middle of August 2010 and last till the middle of August the following year.

Skuggagaršar |

Skuggagaršar are in Lindargata 42, 44, 46 and 46A. Lindargata 42, 46 and 46A are our newest buildings and they were taken in use in fall 2006. There are 96 studio apartments for one person, apartment type 6-1 (38,8m2). Storage space is in each apartment, can also be used to study. Three of the apartments are designed for handicapped students. All apartments have computer connections (to the university Ethernet). Communal laundry room is on the first floor in Lindargata 46A, but bicycle storages are on the first floor in each house.
In fall 2009 Lindargata 44 was renovated and taken in use by Student housing. The building is on 3 floors with 4 rental units. On first floor is one shared apartment where two single students have their own bedroom but share kitchen and bath. On second floor is2 bedroom family apartment and on third floor there is one 2-3 bedrooms family apartment. All apartments have computer connections to the university Ethernet. Fridge, light fixtures and stove come with all apartments. Each apartment has a storage room, family apartments have their own laundry room but all the apartments can use the communal laundry room on the first floor in Lindargata 46a.
Rental period is 12months that is from middle of August to the middle of August the following year. Lease can be terminated, tenant has to give a 3 months notice, counting from the start of next month.

Vetrargaršar |

Vetrargaršar (Eggertsgata 6-10) opened in 1987-1989. There are 59 one bedroom apartments (type 3-8, 50m2) in the building, 30 two bedroom apartments (types 3-9,3-10,3-11, 58-64m2) and one three bedroom apartment (type 3-12, 100m2). This building is now being renovated, team working from one apartment to another, most of the one bedroom apartments already done. All the apartments have storages. All apartments have computer connections (to the university Ethernet). There is a communal study room in the building, two laundry rooms, a bicycle and baby carriage storage, a meeting hall and a play room for the children. Most of the apartments can be fitted with a washing machine. Lights, fridge and stove are included in all apartments. Vetrargardur is only intended for families with children. The building also houses the day-care center Sólgaršur. Sólgaršur is for children from the age of 6 months until two years old and is run by FS (Icelandic Student Services).
